While Disney+ has a wide variety of original content as an OTT platform, it is considered to be less convenient when it comes to using the app/ I redesigned the Disney+ app to improve the identified issues to enable a more convenient user experience.

Challenges
User feedback showed that the current application is missing essential features and fails to deliver a comfortable user experience. The key issues identified were:
• Difficulty in finding content through related keywords
• Absence of a content rating system
• Disorganised content in genre pages
• Lack of basic features in video player
• No information on upcoming content within the app
Therefore, the challenge was to introduce the missing features and enhance the user journey in an effective and engaging way without overwhelming users.
My Approach
I began by conducting an in-depth market research in order to to assess the strengths and weaknesses of other OTT platforms and to identify the current position of the Disney+ app in the OTT market. After the research was complete, I moved on to analysing the user feedback into personas and user journey map to derive solutions from the identified issues and user needs.
The analysis showed that both the market research and user analysis revealed low user engagement and highlighted the need for feature enhancements. Therefore, I aimed to develop design solutions that would enhance the overall user experience while staying true to Disney's brand identity, making it appealing and intuitive for both adults and kids.
Results
Feedback from the usability testing survey showed that all participants had a high rate of satisfaction (average 4.3/5) regarding ease of use, the overall design and new features.
Below are some key changes made in the redesigned app:
• Hashtags and top searches added in the "Search" page to allow users to find related content using keywords
• Organisation of content in "Genre" page to enable users to easily see trending items
• Incorporation of "Upcoming" page to inform users about new content releases
• Introduction of "Rating" system to help users identify how much the selected content matches their preference
• Essential features added to video player such as lock screen, brightness adjustment, next episode and skip
